NIV Once-A-Day Bible for Women

DAY 12 OF 21

Genesis 25:21

Children are a blessing from the Lord, but when a woman who wants to give birth to a child finds out that she cannot get pregnant, the missed blessing becomes a deep ache and painful longing. It can be difficult to trust God when experiencing childlessness, but God is the only one who is able to transform the pain into a mysterious joy and peace. It’s okay to continue to pray for a child; God gave Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, Hannah, Elizabeth and other women in the Bible their own biological children after many long, painful years of waiting. It’s also okay to take our questions and grief to him when he doesn’t answer our prayers for a child. Regardless of whether we have or have not given birth, our value as women never changes. In one way or another, God has made us for fruitfulness.
