Water-Walking Faithنموونە
Water-walkers pioneer
You’ve probably moved across water on all sorts of boards, boats, skis or pool lilos, but probably never on your own feet. Through the exhilarating story of Peter stepping out of the boat and walking on water towards Jesus, we’ll explore the astonishing truth that God calls ordinary people living ordinary lives in ordinary places – people like us – and He does extraordinary things in them and through them. If you long to live for something bigger than yourself, then it’s time to learn how to live with water-walking faith.
Surprisingly, it wasn’t Jesus’ idea for Peter to walk on water. It was Peter’s, and we can learn a lot from his front-footed attitude and actions. Water-walkers pioneer, initiate, kick things off, and blaze new trails. They ask the questions that perhaps no one else is asking. They understand that sometimes we need to wait on God, and sometimes God’s waiting on us to dream, pray, and start. Ask yourself: Where is God waiting on me to believe, serve, give, or pioneer, in my circles of influence and concern?
James 4:2 says, ‘You have not because you ask not.’ Some of our greatest breakthroughs are left unfulfilled in our minds, because they never leave our mouths. We never ask. Change is so often set in motion when we begin praying about a dream or desire. And if you have been asking God for breakthrough, but breakthrough hasn’t come, don’t stop asking. God hears your prayers. Continue to step out in faith and keep asking God for the purposeful life to which He’s called you. He’s generous. He’s not the God of breakeven. He’s the God of breakthrough.
It’s also inspiring that Peter didn’t wait for conditions to be perfect before initiating an encounter with Jesus. Prayerfully consider what you have faith to pioneer or initiate in this season. We tend to wait for the ideal setting or circumstance before we launch ourselves into something new, different, bigger, or better, but God is just waiting for our obedience.
Perhaps to begin living a life of water-walking faith your first step needs to be just that: a step. Perhaps you’ve been waiting for God when all the time God has been waiting for you to take a step out of the boat by dreaming, asking, and simply starting. Remember too that water-walkers pioneer, but they don’t do so alone. God’s presence goes with you, and His presence is an invitation into the impossible and the miraculous because the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you. Perhaps it’s time to go where you’ve never gone before and do what you’ve never done before. It’s time to believe for a breakthrough because Jesus Himself says, ‘I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in Me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.’ (John 14:12)

About this Plan
Your dream isn’t in the boat. It’s on the waves. God is calling you to step out. In this six-day plan, Jason Mendis walks us out onto the water, to the astonishing encounter between Peter and Jesus. Those who have water-walking faith are brave enough to launch into the unknown. They hear the voice of God. Acting on it, they fix their gaze on Jesus and trust Him.
