Book By Book 3: Proverbs To Lukeنموونە
God paints a very negative picture of the people. No one is doing the right things, but they don’t think God will do anything about it. They are probably thinking they are God’s chosen people, so he would never allow them to be defeated.
As Christians, we should not assume God is going to overlook the things we do because he loves us. For those who have trusted Jesus, our sins are forgiven and we will spend eternity in heaven, but that doesn’t give us a pass when we disobey God. God does care about the things we do and cannot honor our disobedience.
The remainder of Jeremiah follows along in the same way with Jeremiah repeatedly encouraging the people to return to God and warning them that destruction is coming.
