Remember Jesus Christ [Knowing Jesus Series] نموونە
We must always learn and remember that the Christian life is shaped by seasons. Solomon wrote that there is a time for everything (Ecclesiastes 3:1) and how right he was! If there's something we've learned during the COVID-19 pandemic, it's that we should value our loved ones more and learn to be more resilient in the face of adversity.
Many difficulties of different kinds have marked this season. It seems as if we all received the Lord's invitation to cross to the other side of the lake, and suddenly, we found ourselves in this great storm that has shaken us as a society. Nevertheless, despite our fears and doubts, Jesus remains God and King over all circumstances. He has the power to rebuke the winds and the raging waters and, in every situation, grant us peace (Luke 8:22-25).
In Judaism, only God controlled the seas and the winds (Psalm 107:29). In the Gospels, the Lord demonstrates His divinity by commanding the elements. In front of such a divine manifestation, the disciples' reaction was amazement and terror. Perhaps for a moment, the disciples themselves had forgotten about Jesus. The disciples' problem, as Jesus describes it with great compassion, was that they had displaced the object of their faith. Their faith was no longer in the Lord but, perhaps, in their own strength and experience as fishermen (Luke 8:25).
As we conclude this devotional plan, we must remember that the Biblical knowledge of Jesus Christ nourishes our faith, especially in the face of life's adversities and storms. Our faith is strengthened and anchored in the Lord every time we meditate on His Word to see Him in all His glory and power. Approaching the Bible means approaching Jesus. By hearing the words of the Lord and putting them into practice, we will be building and placing our faith on the Rock (Luke 6:47-49), and thus, we will enjoy His peace.
Reflect
What are the benefits of gaining Biblical knowledge of who Jesus Christ is?
Pray
Beloved Lord, thank you for always being near. Please help me to put my faith in you. Reveal your divinity and power to me when I go through hardships. I trust you with my life. Amen.
About this Plan
"Can a Christian forget about Jesus?" The apostle Paul encouraged young Timothy never to stop remembering Jesus Christ. Since we live in a world of distractions, we risk losing our focus on Jesus. Through this devotional plan, I invite you to rediscover the importance of knowing Jesus Christ as he is presented in Scripture. The goal is to keep our lives centered on Him until the end.
