Remember Jesus Christ [Knowing Jesus Series] نموونە
In 2015, the Barna Group conducted a survey in the United States to determine what Americans believe about God. While 92% of the respondents stated they believed that Jesus was an actual historical figure who truly existed, only 56% affirmed believing that Jesus is God. These numbers speak of the impact of subjectivism on the faith of a nation that, at its peak, embraced the principles and values of the Bible. They also show a significant level of illiteracy regarding the teachings of Christ Jesus.
The Bible affirms that knowing Jesus Christ is the only way to know God (John 8:19). There is no other way. Jesus' description of Himself here, disarms the postmodern argument that a person can still be considered spiritual (and hence, know God) and disregard any knowledge and belief in Jesus Christ. The Lord affirmed that He is the way, the truth, and the life, and that no one can come to the Father except through Him (John 14:6-11). By knowing Jesus, we know God, as in Jesus Christ, God's justice, grace, and love for humanity converge.
In his first letter, John also declares that it is the Lord Jesus who gives us the understanding necessary to know God (1 John 5:20). In harmony with John, the apostle Peter emphasizes the importance of growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18).
Following this biblical advice, we should restore the centrality of our faith in Jesus and ask Him to grant us understanding to know Him so that we can abide in the One who is faithful.
Reflect
What would you say to someone who believes they can know God without knowing and committing their lives to Christ?
Pray
Beloved Father, I thank you for Jesus, your Son, who reveals the way to you and eternal life. Help me always to remember Jesus at all times and to grow in your grace day by day. Amen.
About this Plan
"Can a Christian forget about Jesus?" The apostle Paul encouraged young Timothy never to stop remembering Jesus Christ. Since we live in a world of distractions, we risk losing our focus on Jesus. Through this devotional plan, I invite you to rediscover the importance of knowing Jesus Christ as he is presented in Scripture. The goal is to keep our lives centered on Him until the end.
