30 Days Defeating the Arch-Enemy of Our Finances (Mammon)نموونە
HEALTHY FINANCES
To be financially healthy, you must live according to what the Bible says about your finances. Robert Morris wrote, "Good stewards spend wisely, save diligently, and give generously." Spending wisely is such a hard lesson to learn that there are people who go their whole lives without ever learning it. They live in the heat of the moment, and because of poor or no planning, they end up using all their resources. They have no budget, no spreadsheets, no accountability. Many end up living on an endless financial rollercoaster and have no legacy to leave to future generations. After all, money is necessary and touches everything on our earthly journey.
Second, saving is important. Having margin is key. In 2020, we experienced a worldwide tragedy — the COVID-19 pandemic. Countless companies went bankrupt overnight because they had no financial margin. They had not saved properly. They had been focused on operations, getting the product out, and profits. But that was not enough. Having money in savings saved many companies, and those who had not saved learned their lesson. Spending all our income is a lack of wisdom, and the sooner we get a plan in place to save and invest wisely, the better.
The last aspect of the financial health trio is giving generously. In the Bible, from beginning to end we are encouraged to give. After all we have a Father Who is the Great Giver! The premise of this devotional journey is to see money as something spiritual and to oppose Mammon's assaults on our finances. In other words, there is a spiritual war over money, and we need to use effective strategies. A sure-fire strategy is generosity! In the Bible, the verb believe is used 270 times because God wants you to believe. The verb pray is used 371 times because God wants you to pray. The verb love is used 714 times because God wants you to love. The verb give is used 2,162 times. Can you see the importance of giving? Generosity brings the Father's favor on our finances and is one of the main protections against Mammon. Spend and save wisely. Donate generously. In doing so, your financial success will be set.
Remember: Good financial management and financial health is to spend wisely, save zealously, and give generously under the influence of the Holy Spirit.
