The Promise of Christmas

DAY 15 OF 20

Have you ever had someone break a promise to you? Maybe a friend promised to keep a secret they repeated, a significant other promised to show up for you but they didn’t, or a coworker promised to help you but never made an effort. No matter the situation, it hurts when you’ve trusted someone, only to find that trust has been broken. It’s an expectation that goes unmet, and that’s hard. That’s one of the difficult things about being in a relationship with other people. In some way or another, they’re going to let us down.

The good news is our relationship with God is different. We can trust and know that God will always keep His promises. He always has and always will. In our relationship with Him, we can have peace knowing He will always be faithful. And when we’re tempted to forget that truth, we can look to the birth of Jesus as a reminder.

Today, make a list of the ways you’ve seen God be faithful to you. Think about the promises He has kept in your life and thank Him for the act of faithfulness we remember at Christmas: the birth of Jesus and His arrival to save us all.

About this Plan

The Promise of Christmas

The birth of Jesus isn’t just a great story; it’s a real event that shows us not just how God loves us but how God’s people (just like us) had to learn to trust in the face of incredibly difficult and, at times, unbelievable circumstances. We’ll be reminded of the humanity in the story and the faith it takes to believe in the promise of Christmas!
