Pray: 14 Daily Moments to Quiet Your Mind & Center Your Soul

DAY 2 OF 14

Relationships can be difficult and tumultuous at times. Learning how to heal your relationships requires dependence on God and wisdom from the One who taught us how to forgive.

Today, take a moment to relax. Find a comfortable and quiet setting, a place where your focus can be completely on this moment of self-reflection. Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Think about the relationships in your life. As you exhale, release the thoughts floating around in your mind and set your mind on peace and healing.

Sometimes, people can be unkind. Others may say and do things that will upset you. Things that will hurt your heart and break your trust. Some will even go out of their way to harm you and create discord. There will be people in your life who will make being a peacemaker seem impossible, and even though at times it may seem difficult and daunting, it can still be done. Even when it seems challenging, it is possible to live in peace. Think back to the relationships that came to mind at the start of this devotion. Think of those connections that have been broken and that are suffering the situations that seem impossible. With God, all things are possible.

God has called His children to be peacemakers. This means that we are called to bring peace where there is discord and disagreement. God calls us to live amicably and in unity with everyone. Peace can be achieved. Through obedience to God's Word and a desire to bring harmony to all relationships, you can become a peacemaker.

PRAYER

God, I praise You for Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Your peace overcomes all circumstances, all fears, and doubts. You have given Your children the ability to be peacemakers. I know that You love me and that You have already provided a resolution to every conflict I will face. There are relationships that are causing me pain. Please forgive me, Lord, for all the anger, resentment, and hurt that I carry around with me instead of choosing peace in those relationships. Please enter my heart and allow peace to reign. Thank You, Lord, for giving me relationships. Thank You for the potential for love and connection. Thank You for relationships that are full of life and joy. Thank You that even in the more difficult relationships, the potential for peace and healing is possible because of You. God, You are present and You hear me. Thank You for bringing these relationships to my mind today. You ask me to lead with peace, and I ask that You would strengthen me to do so. Bring peace into my life. Let peace be the banner over my relationships with family, friends, colleagues, and bosses. Let me choose peace again and again and again. Amen.
