Got Change?

DAY 28 OF 40

GROW IN GOOD WORKS

Doing what is good is to be a natural outcome of knowing God our Father. If we love Christ and choose to live by His teaching, then we are shaped to think, behave and act like Him. Good works therefore will come naturally to us if we love God and love people.

We must grow beyond thinking that good works are just kind acts isolated from our character that have the return effect of making us feel good. “ Good works” is a way of life that results from a good life. Good works then is a sum of all the work that a transformed disciple of Christ does. We would do well to choose an occupation that by its nature is beneficial to society, and if we don’t have this choice, then whatever work we do, when done as unto the Lord, is counted as good (Ephesians 6:5-8).

To grow in good works then is to grow in maturity in Christ, to cooperate with the Holy Spirit to change the attitude of our mind, so that our life is good and our attitude toward any work is good. It is when we do this, that our concern for people will be genuine and they will see our good works and glorify God in heaven (Matthew 5:16). On the other hand, to only externally mimic good works, but lack Christ and His transformational work in our lives, avails no eternal good (Matthew 7:21-23).

Our culture has trained us to think that by our good works and good lives we will be saved, when the reality is we are in fact saved by Christ while we were still sinners, to do good works (Ephesians 2:10). The evidence of being rooted in Christ is a transformed life that is marked by good works or good fruit and a life time of work that has always been good.

The CHALLENGE to Change:

Assess your attitude toward work and the people at your work place or home. Make note of changes that need to be made. How ready are we to help someone in need?
Always be prepared, mentally and also with resources, so that when the need arises, we will always be able to help (Titus 3:14).

About this Plan

Got Change?

We keep talking about change, how much this world needs it. True change is not brought about by the formation of new laws, rather by the transformation of each one’s life. You will find in this Plan a reminder for each day of an area we need to change in and grow, prompting us into Christ likeness and becoming the change this world needs to see and emulate. So…..Got Change?
