Working with Dad
There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every matter under heaven. ECCLESIASTES 3:1 NASB
I had the distinct honor of working alongside my dad to remodel an old building I purchased into my very first All She Wrote Notes studio. Several days a week, I traded confetti for construction; we hammered and nailed and sawed and built, and he encouraged me every step of the way. HGTV makes renovations seem so much faster than they are in real life. What Dad and I initially thought would take six months stretched to more than eighteen months of costly repairs, unwelcomed surprises, and inevitable delays.
When people asked about our timeline or when the official grand opening would be, I simply replied that it was all in God’s timing and that we could take as long as we needed because I absolutely loved working with my dad.
It’s important to know that God’s timeline is not the same as our timeline. Keep your eyes open for blessings along the way—what is He trying to teach you? Is He trying to teach you patience? Or maybe humility? Or maybe He is training you for what’s next. Either way, we can trust that God sees the bigger picture. When we’re working toward something big in our lives and praying for it actually to happen, I hope we can be reminded that it’s all in His timing and that we can still celebrate the everyday moments along the way.
