Release: 10 Days to Embrace God's Plan for Your Lifeنموونە
This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him. PSALM 91:2
Where do you feel safe? According to Strong’s dictionary, the word refuge means “shelter from rain, storm, danger, and a place of trust.” When I find myself feeling the most vulnerable, I know this is the perfect opportunity to resurrect the shelter of trust. That shelter is an opportunity to get cozy next to our big God. Our circumstances during uncertainty can seem larger than life, but building shelter through trusting in Him is how we find our place of safety. The reality is the rain will happen. The storms will come. But what makes Christian living so different is that we serve a God who controls the storm. Remember the story of Jesus on the boat in the middle of the sea? He was sleeping during the storm. Whenever life gets overwhelming for me, I think about Jesus and how He slept. I want the mind of Christ—to respond not in fear but with trust and to make my pattern of living one where I know how to seek refuge in the middle of the storm.
That trust includes rest. It includes covering. You may feel exposed but declare to all your fears who your God is. Speak to the uncertainty with confidence, not doubting but believing in Him. He knows the way you should go. He also knows the forecast. That is your safe place. It’s not in your plans, your analysis, your goals. It’s not in your ambitions, your dreams, or your finances. Your place of safety is in the Lord. No matter what happens around you, no matter what falls apart, don’t put your hope in circumstances. Put your hope in Christ and find safety on a firm foundation. Even when you don’t see the way, KNOW that you are safe in the refuge of the Lord and trust in Him.
Prayer:
Father, release me from the bondage of fear and doubt. Help me know that You are there even when I can’t see my way, even when the storms of life are raging. Give me such a peace that allows me to have the best sleep of my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
