DAY 39 OF 40

#Thankful (Philippe Sternbauer)

Being a politician is possibly one of the most difficult jobs there is. No matter what you do, it’s always wrong. Not enough or too much, too shallow or too detailed, too fast or too slow. Politicians are often targeted, criticized, and questioned. At times, all we do is ridicule them.

But when I walk through the clean, well-lit streets of my town in the evening, I feel safe. I can walk around, without being in fear of an attack. It is not like that everywhere...

At the end of the month, when I check my account, I can be sure to find the wages of the current month there. Also because I have a job with which I can support my livelihood in a clean and honest way. This is possible because, amongst other things, I was able to attain a good education. It is not like that everywhere...

I don’t need to pay criminals protection money and there are no ‘officials’ who take a few percent off my wages for themselves. It is not like that everywhere...

We enjoy many of these good things, thanks to those people who have taken on the responsibility in this country and taken a stand in order to make it a better place so that our lives can keep getting better. This does not go without saying. Our country depends strongly on who governs us and in what way.

So let’s start appreciating those people who have taken on these responsibilities, those who make sure that our life here can be the way it is!

Actionstep:

Today, personally thank someone who is in a high position of responsibility due to their job. Tip: A person in responsibility could also be your boss.
