#Thankful (Philippe Sternbauer)
Have you ever thought: “If I could only swap places with this person! Their life, their marriage, their kids, their job, their friends...“? The list could go on endlessly.
The media, and especially Hollywood, are experts at giving us a taste of what a better life could look like. They present us with ideals to orientate ourselves by in order to be happy. But does it really work?
Francis Bacon, an English philosopher, said once: “It is not happy people who are thankful; it is the thankful people who are happy.”
An interesting report by the beauty company “Dove” showed that it’s easier for most people to give others compliments about their appearance than themselves. Because we can always find something disturbing or a feature that we don’t like about ourselves.
True happiness is only found when we learn to be content with who we are and what we have. This starts in the morning in front of the mirror.
Are you content with yourself? Today, discover new possibilities for why you can be thankful to God!
Actionstep:
Write down seven things that you like about yourself. What do you like about the way you look? Which gifts, which characteristics do you find good about yourself? And, yes, please write it all down! If you find it difficult, ask three friends for feedback about what they like about you. You will be amazed at their responses!
