4 Reminders of Who God Is: Psalm 46نموونە
God Is Present In The Moment
Even when we are distracted, hurried, and consumed by selfish ambition causing us to lose focus on the present moment right in front of us, we can trust that God is “very present” in every moment of our daily lives.
Psalms 46:1-3 tells us, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult."
We see this theme of God's Presence throughout Psalm 46. Again and again, the psalmist's words remind us that God is "very present (vs.1)," that He is "in the midst of the city (vs.5)," and that He is "with us (vs.7, 11)."
Deuteronomy 4:7 provides a beautiful reminder of God's faithful Presence, "For what other great nation has a god so near to it as the Lord our God is whenever we call to him?" In context, the people of Israel are about to enter the land God promised them. But before they enter, Moses reminds them of the importance of being obedient to all that God has commanded. In fact, their obedience will be a sign of their wisdom and knowledge to the people in the land. Wisdom and knowledge that could only have come from the Lord God, who is faithful and present with His people.
Regardless of our circumstances, God is present with us. He is not far off or preoccupied with more important things. God is not distracted or in a hurry. On the contrary, He is consistent and trustworthy at all times and in all seasons of life; His desire to be present with you in every moment never changes.
Like a builder laying the foundation of a house, we need to get this truth deep into our hearts. Take a minute now to ask God to reveal His Presence to you as you go about your daily activities.
