We Are Messengers - The Overflow Devoنموونە
My Victory” – We Are Messengers’ Darren Mulligan
Jesus loves sinners. The scriptures are filled with His tender and grace-filled encounters with prostitutes, beggars, thieves and tax collectors. He loves the outsider, the lost, the lonely and the broken. Jesus loves sinners so much that He doesn’t leave them where He finds them.
“You came for criminals and every Pharisee
You came for hypocrites, even one like me”
Psalm 103:12 tells us that Jesus, “Has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.”
Our sin nature has been burned up by Christ. We were sinners but for grace, we were bound to sin but for mercy, we were slaves to iniquity but for the incredible work of Jesus on Calvary. We are no longer sinners but saints who have been saved wonderfully and perfectly by the finished work of Jesus on the cross.
“Behold the lamb of God who takes away our sin
The Holy lamb of God makes us alive again”
When Jesus said on that cross that “It is finished,” He meant it. Jesus’ annihilation of sin was not partial, it was comprehensive and complete. He paid the price for all of our sin and shame - all of it! Christ has demolished the believers’ sin - past, present and future. His sacrifice on the cross has utterly destroyed our need to sin. If we have surrendered to Jesus, then we are saints who have been made completely clean in Him. We are no longer compelled to sin, we are free to choose to live as saints every moment of every day and to revel in the new life that has been bought for us through His nail pierced hands.
“O’ You’re love bled for me
Your blood in crimson streams
O’ Your death is hell’s defeat
The cross meant to kill is my victory”
