The Effects of Faith
What are the effects of faith? Our faith can change us and move us to do many things, but I want to focus on our faith humbling us. It ensures that we know who we are and makes us aware of who God is.
Abraham was an amazing man who did great things. Yet he was not justified by works, but by his faith in God. If Abraham had been justified by his works, he would have had something to boast about. But that boasting would have been meaningless before God, our Creator. Nothing human beings do can compare to what God has done. Faith humbles us and makes us realize we cannot boast before God.
We receive salvation as a gift from God through faith in Him. It is a gift that cannot be earned through works. This is the beauty of faith – it cannot be bought or achieved through our efforts. Those who work may receive a paycheck, but our salvation is received through trust in God.
When our faith is challenged, we must ask ourselves, “What does Scripture say?” This is our foundation for life. Whether we struggle with marriage, parenting, peer pressure, or any other challenge, we must turn to God’s Word for guidance and direction. In it, we can find the answers we need and grow in faith.
As we read the Scriptures, we must remember that they are not about us, but about Jesus. The more we learn about God and His love for us, the more we understand ourselves and our place in the world. We must rely on Him for salvation and guidance.
Faith humbles us and reminds us that we need God. It challenges us to trust Him, even when we cannot see the path ahead. Are you willing to trust in God’s plan for your life? Are you willing to let go of pride and self-sufficiency and submit yourself to His will? Do you truly understand the importance of faith?
Remember, faith is not just a belief system. It is a way of life, a journey towards salvation, and a relationship with God. Are there areas where you need to grow in faith and trust in God? What steps can you take to deepen your relationship with Him? Be open to His guidance through the Scriptures.

About this Plan
Even the best must be saved by belief. Faith humbles. Faith receives salvation as a gift, not a wage. We need to place our faith in Christ, and then walk, in obedience, in His works. Ours is a simple faith. In this devotional plan, Pastor Matte shares truths from Paul’s letter to the Romans about how to live out our Christian faith.
