Just Don't Give Up! - Part 2: His Planنموونە
Trust You Still
“Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.” – Genesis 15:6
Abram waited ten silent years before the word of the LORD finally came and foretold Isaac’s birth. By then, he was 80, and Sarai was 70 years old. The LORD reaffirmed Abram with three promises in His message after the ten silent years (v. 1): Do not be afraid – God knew there was fear in Abram’s heart; I am your shield – God committed Himself to be Abram’s protector; Your reward shall be very great – God promised Abram great blessings as a reward for his faithfulness.
Despite the impossible, Abram believed what God said. The word “believe” stands for an attitude of having firm and permanent trust. Because God saw Abram’s faithfulness, He bound His promise into a covenant. Abram trusted God in both good and bad times. He trusted God even when God was silent for a while. Abram never stopped trusting God until he received his reward twenty years later. For that, God credited his belief as righteousness.
We went home after hearing the diagnosis from the hospital. We were in our room; my wife kept her silence. After a few minutes, I told her to let it out if she wanted to. She immediately burst into tears. “What should we do?”, she asked many times. I couldn't give her an answer, either. “Please don’t leave me and your two girls.”, she cried out. I could only hug her tightly.
We prayed to God, begged His mercy, and reaffirmed to ourselves that we wanted to trust Him even if we couldn't see how things would come to pass. I told my wife, “Trust Him. He never fails His covenant. Let’s trust Him. We will go through this together with God.” That was our decision and we moved on. I believed in my heart that our prayers and decisions were heard by God. I know He accounted them as righteousness. I reminded God of the New Covenant in Jesus Christ – physical healing as part of the Atonement.
My friend, trust God in your difficult times. He cares for you in His silence. He feels your fear. He hears your cry. Today, fear not. Jehovah Sabaoth, the Lord of Hosts, God of the armies of heavens and earth, is your protector. God promises great rewards for you. Blessings beyond what you have before. You have been made righteous in Christ. Your faithfulness will never go unrewarded.
In the midst of the storm, trust Him still
