Acts: Go & Be Chapters 1-9نموونە
What is this passage saying?
Followers of Jesus were continuing to grow day by day. When the complaint arose about the widows,, the apostles stop to appoint those who would take care of them. Not just anyone, but men of good reputation that were filled with The Holy Spirit. They received this word from the apostles and appointed those to serve.
What is this passage teaching?
What an amazing picture of unity and devotion to Jesus. The apostles understood the ministry that they had been called to, they weren’t trying to get out of helping the widows. They were being faithful to what God had called them to do and they helped raise up others who would care for the widows. We are the body and Jesus is the head of the Church. We are all called and equipped in different ways through The Holy Spirit, we don’t all have the same gifts. Together, a united church is what Jesus wants, not caring who gets the glory among men. May Christ be lifted high and may we remain humble in His service.
How do I respond?
How has God gifted and equipped you? Whether teaching, service, evangelism, whatever it may be, use it for the glory of God, not yourself. Ask your local church leaders how you can get involved by using your gifts for the kingdom. If a door doesn’t open right away, don’t give up! Be faithful and find another place in the church to glorify God.
