Acts: Go & Be Chapters 1-9نموونە
What is this passage saying?
Luke is recounting briefly at the beginning of this book the events and purpose of the Gospel of Luke. He is reminding them of the ministry of Christ, His commands to the disciples, the proofs of Christ’s resurrection, and how the disciples are to wait in Jerusalem for the coming of The Holy Spirit. Before Jesus’ ascension to heaven, He tells them that when The Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will be His witnesses to the ends of the earth.
What is this passage teaching?
Imagine the scene that is unfolding here; the disciples have seen and been with their risen savior Jesus for 40 days. They can see the fulfillment of many things that Jesus had taught them, and Jesus is telling them to wait here for a little while longer. How frustrating is it when you feel like you have all the details to go ahead with a plan, a plan that you believe in, a plan that you cannot wait to put into action, and someone tells you to hold off. Jesus is telling them to wait for the Holy Spirit and when you receive His power you will GO & BE witnesses to all the nations.
How do I respond?
Listen and obey to what the Bible is teaching. Don’t be filled with just passion and enthusiasm, be filled and empowered by The Holy Spirit.
