Everybody wants to “make a difference.” Preferably a difference that genuinely does good for others. The tragically sad eulogies are always the ones that say a lot about great accomplishments and little about any person better for it. So what is the difference that makes a big difference for people? You might have a good list. Jesus has one thing on his list. One thing he's helping people gain even if that means they have to lose everything else.

Spend some time with Jesus today in the simplicity and depth of his vantage point of what matters most to a person in your circle. Maybe there's something you'll need to revise in how you're helping? What would it look like to love one person at their soul level, and not just loving in ways that are passing and practical?
