Invite the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Revelation into this time. Without Him, these are just words on a screen. Man cannot reveal these things to you, but only the Spirit of the Lord.

Fasting Creates Intimacy

Fasting creates intimacy with God. Before asking Him for power, miracles, and breakthrough, just get close to Him. In Joel 2:12 the Lord says, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning”. Return to your first love with fasting. If you have been feeling far from Him or like you need your passion to be reset on the things of God, fast and grow in intimacy. It makes us close to Him. We become more like Him when we are denying our flesh in fasting and as we spend more time with Him in this season of denying our flesh, we discover more about His heart and character. Make it a point to be with God today, just for the sake of being with Him. Take time to be with the Lord outside of your typical discipline and agendas for no other reason than to be with Him and to hear what is on His heart. Ask yourself: “What is keeping me from a deeper connection with God?”

Prayer: Lord, before I seek Your hand, I commit to just seeking Your face. I want to be with You and find what pleases You. My desire is to grow in intimacy with You. More than what You can do, I just want You. I desire who You are more than what You can do for me. Your word says that if we draw near to You, You will draw near to us, so we set our focus and attention on You and ask You to purify our hearts. Amen.
