40 Days of Prayer & Fastingنموونە
Jesus began His ministry
The subheading right after today’s reading is “Jesus began His ministry”
This isn’t necessarily to say that after these 40 days, you will begin your ministry. But what could He be preparing you for? Jesus fasted first, then did ministry and performed miracles. He killed His flesh and aligned Himself with the will of God before performing any miraculous works. Let this fast produce spiritual strength in you before you begin what He is calling you to.There is greatness hidden in your fasting season. Don’t despise these small beginnings but acknowledge the value that lies in the hiddenness of your fast--in the wilderness. He has something for you on the other side of these 40 days. He fasted first and THEN began His ministry, after He produced spiritual strength. There is POWER that will be required to do what God will ask this year, and your ability to fast directly reflects your spiritual strength. Don’t neglect the days that feel insignificant and trust that they ARE significant, and that God is at work, even if it doesn’t look or feel like it. Jesus began His ministry with miracles. Miracles follow fasting!
Prayer: God, give me eyes to see what You see. I trust that even in the days that don’t feel significant, You are working in and through me. I receive Your preparation in this season of fasting. Equip and ready me for what is to come. I want to see Your miracles, signs, and wonders. Before I do anything, I want to be in Your perfect will and develop spiritual strength.
About this Plan
Fasting is a spiritual discipline that calls us to deny the desires of our flesh and fill ourselves up with God, His Word, and His presence. Over the next 40 days, we will grow in intimacy with God, position ourselves to be in His perfect will, and learn about His dunamis power in our daily personal encounters.
