40 Days of Prayer & Fastingنموونە
Fasting + Solitude
Fasting and solitude may not be your typical ways of connecting with God, but we can connect with Him in so many ways.
Solitude is experiencing intimacy with God by getting alone Him.
As you fast, make room for more moments of solitude with the Lord. Have a regular meeting place with the Lord during your fast. Be with Him for no other reason than just to soak in His presence. When you’re fasting, don’t let other distractions fill the spaces you have set aside for the Lord. Keep nothing hidden from Him! Don’t fear what He might reveal in your time of fasting. It’s in our weakness that He is magnified. When you’re fasting and freeing up your time and capacity, you may feel the urge to fill that time with other things. But allow yourself to just BE with the Lord. Get comfortable being alone with God in solitude. When you set aside this quality one-on-one time with God, you are telling Him “I just want you.” Solitude reminds us of our heart’s cry to be one with our Maker. It’s in this intimacy with God that you gain spiritual ground!
Prayer: God, I commit and consecrate my time to You during this fast. Nothing is more important to me than just being with You, pleasing You, and growing in intimacy with You. Thank you for what You did on the cross so that I can just be with You every day. Thank you for modeling solitude in you word. Teach me to do what You did. I set aside all distractions. Everything else can wait. Distraction go, Holy Spirit come. Meet me in solitude today. Amen.
About this Plan
Fasting is a spiritual discipline that calls us to deny the desires of our flesh and fill ourselves up with God, His Word, and His presence. Over the next 40 days, we will grow in intimacy with God, position ourselves to be in His perfect will, and learn about His dunamis power in our daily personal encounters.
