Year of the Bible: Part Ten of Twelve

DAY 26 OF 30

The Transformed Life in Christ

One of the extraordinary joys that believers in Jesus experience is the transformative power of God's grace in our lives. To be transformed is to be changed from one thing to another. As a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly, we are changed from sinful humans into representatives of Jesus in our world.

Emotional maturity has the fruit of self-awareness. An emotionally maturing person recognizes the weakness and strengths of his or her character. Paul encouraged the believers in Colossae to develop an emotional maturity that reflects the transformational power of Jesus. Paul explained that those who are not yet believers would not understand why these people act so differently. This difference influences unbelievers to discover the same freedoms they see believers experiencing.

Living a life of love allows God's peace to direct our steps in direct contrast to how the world lives.

Challenge: Accept the call Paul presents and "put on compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, patience." Ask the Holy Spirit to continue His transformative work to mature your emotional health so that your witness of Jesus will be in word and deed.

Prayer: Father, I submit my whole person to Your Holy Spirit. I grant You permission to complete Your divine will in me and through me. Thank you for adopting me into Your family. Amen.
