Seeing Yourself Through the Eyes of Christ a 6-Day Devotional by Dr. Robyn L. Gobinنموونە
Reveal the Lies
Lies are most damaging when we don't acknowledge them. To overcome the lies, they need to be exposed. We need to recognize the lies we believe. We can't change something without first acknowledging and labeling the problem accurately. How do we know when we believe lies? It's pretty simple: Psalms 33:4 (NIV) tells us the word of the Lord is right and true. Therefore, any thought that contradicts the word of God is a lie.
There is power not only in mentally labeling lies but also in writing them down on paper. When we write the lies down on paper, we see them more clearly. Writing down the lies we believe about ourselves is a powerful practice because it brings the lie into the light, where it can be taken captive and scrutinized by the word of God (1 Thessalonians 5:21 NLT).
Today, let's take the first step of renewing our minds by bringing what was once hidden into the light. What lies have you believed about yourself? Maybe you believe you are "not good enough," have nothing valuable to offer, or are unlovable. When you find yourself in a challenging season, you might tell yourself:
"This will never end."
"I'm a failure."
"I don't deserve good things."
Whatever the untruths are, grab a pen and paper or open the notes app on your smartphone and write down the lies you've been telling yourself. This step is crucial. It will set us up for the second step of renewing our minds: replacing lies with truth.
Once you have written down the lies, confess them to God. When we confess, we admit that we need God's strength and power to overcome the lies that dare to rob us of the freedom He wants us to experience. Confession allows us to experience God's grace and mercy (1 John 1:9 KJV). It relieves us of the burden of carrying the weight of the lies alone (Matthew 11:28-30 NLT).
If you are hesitant to expose the lies, let the wise words of author and speaker Hosanna Wong encourage you: "The enemy has victory when we keep things hidden and in the dark, but there is freedom in confession. Let's give the enemy no victory!"
Verse of the Day: 1 John 1:7
Prayer: God, I confess that I have believed untruths about myself. Today, I submit the lies to you. I trust you are powerful enough to deliver me from these untruths. Help me capture every rebellious thought and teach them to obey you. In Jesus' name, Amen.

About this Plan
What you think about yourself matters. We can’t live fully surrendered to God while maintaining allegiance with lies that distort our vision of who we are. We position ourselves to be fully used for God’s good purposes when we know and believe the truth of who God says we are. This 6-day plan will equip you with practical strategies to break free from the lies and embrace the truth.
