Daily Prayers for Grieving Hearts: A 21-Day Plan for Comfort on the Road to Recoveryنموونە
TIME TO REBUILD
The Lord will rebuild Zion; He will appear in His glory. He will pay attention to the prayer of the destitute and will not despise their prayer. PSALM 102:16–17
After destruction or loss of any kind occurs, there comes a point when it’s time to clean up the blocked pathways, sunken rooftops, and piles of rubble and begin to rebuild. Lifting one armful of debris can feel like moving a twig from the redwood forest, but progress can be made. Soon clear walkways, solid roof joists, and wide-open spaces behold the goodness of God. One by one, each fragment of sadness and sorrow are escorted out, and the joy that’s been waiting is welcomed back into our sphere by a heart that’s able to receive it. When this happens, life doesn’t look as it did before. There’s a new depth to your foundation with and dependence on God, which is always good. He wants to appear in His glory in your set of circumstances, so you have no doubt that He loves you and is with you yesterday, today, and in all your tomorrows.
Lord, thank You. Thank You for hearing my prayers leading up to this time in my journey. Thank You for each step I’m able to take toward healing and knowing that while things won’t be the same, all will still be well. Thank You for all the glimmers of hope You send for a new future, whatever it may look like. Thank You for the new depth of love I feel for You and for knowing more than ever that You are with me. Thank You for rebuilding my heart into one that is whole again.
JESUS, IN YOUR NAME, I PRAY. AMEN.

About this Plan
Grief has many phases, and some phases make it difficult for us to find the words or motivation to pray. In the moments when we need God the most but can’t seem to connect with Him, this 21-day reading plan can give us language to bridge the gap. It helps you remember that God is close to the brokenhearted, deeply attentive to your pain, and capable of healing and restoring all of us. Each day, read a short message about a promise from God, find a corresponding Scripture, and let the daily prayer guide your time with the Lord.
