Daily Prayers for Grieving Hearts: A 21-Day Plan for Comfort on the Road to Recoveryنموونە
HE LEADS AND PROVIDES
He brought water out of the flint rock for you. He fed you in the wilderness with manna. DEUTERONOMY 8:15–16
When looking at the story of God leading the Israelites out of Egypt, His miraculous provision is seen in numerous ways. First, He brought them a leader by choosing Moses to communicate between God and the people. God provided water out of a rock to quench their thirst. He poured down manna every day to fill their stomachs and give them strength. He also didn’t let their clothes wear out, and with all the miles of walking over forty years, He didn’t even let their feet swell. God covered all their needs throughout the entire journey from bondage to freedom. Instead of Moses, we have Jesus to do our communication—He is but a prayer and a cry away. His Spirit quenches our thirst for comfort and rest. His friendship fills our hunger for companionship, and His love is a guard to wrap around our hearts. Wherever you are on your trek, remember He is present with you, leading and providing all the way.
Lord Jesus, thank You for being my closest friend. I need You to help me today. I ask You to fill the voids in my life with the presence of Your Spirit. Redeem the loss I’ve endured with restoration and a new purpose. Give me the comfort and healing I need in all the places I hurt. Fill my heart of mourning with a deposit of Your joy. Renew my hope and help me to endure this road until my feet are firmly planted on new ground. Thank You, Jesus, for hearing my prayer.
IN YOUR SWEET NAME, I PRAY. AMEN.

About this Plan
Grief has many phases, and some phases make it difficult for us to find the words or motivation to pray. In the moments when we need God the most but can’t seem to connect with Him, this 21-day reading plan can give us language to bridge the gap. It helps you remember that God is close to the brokenhearted, deeply attentive to your pain, and capable of healing and restoring all of us. Each day, read a short message about a promise from God, find a corresponding Scripture, and let the daily prayer guide your time with the Lord.
