Famous

DAY 1 OF 5

Who hasn’t thought about being famous at some point? It’s enticing to daydream about being in the public eye and being liked by everyone, or at least most people. But being famous comes with its own difficulties. The life that is really worth daydreaming about, is a life following Jesus and bringing glory to God. That is the life that we will be studying this week through the story of Israel’s royal family. Each day we will have a new Bottom Line, which is our central focus and one-sentence takeaway for the day.

In 2 Samuel 11:26-12:13, we get to be flies on the wall of an interaction between King David and his advisor Nathan. In boldness, Nathan confronts David with some major sin in his life not knowing how David would respond. David receives Nathan’s rebuke, repents, and does all he can to make things right. His immediate repentance saved his life and his legacy in many ways. Instead of denying the sin, he admitted to it, sought forgiveness from God, and looked to reorient his heart back to God. We are called to do the same when we sin. Every time we sin, we have a choice to refocus on God and seek His forgiveness.

What is sin?

What is forgiveness? How does it feel to truly forgive or be forgiven?

What jumped out to you the most through today’s scriptures?
