The Higher Place

DAY 7 OF 7

The light in the high place

In our climbing journey as believers, there are times when we question God about things that are happening. We are at a point where we feel like we have given it our all such as believing in God's promises, obeying and following the commandments, and enduring through all the seasons and challenges yet we are in a stressful situation that makes us want to stop in the process of our ascent to a higher place. We question God about the purpose of everything that happens again.

We can find the answer to all of the above questions in Matthew 5:14, which says that we are the light of the world. Lord Jesus taught that we are light and the Holy Spirit in us is the source of that light that can’t be quenched by anything. The things we question are permitted by God to shape us even more. When we feel it is the lowest point in our lives, that is where God is more revealed, and His light shines even more through us.

Often we think that the best time to be a light that can draw people to God is when we experience abundant blessings, joy, and perfect health or the situation where all is well. We need to know that God works in His ways that can’t be limited by anything. We are limited, but the God we worship is the Almighty God. He can use any season in our lives, even when we feel it is the lowest point in our lives, to reveal who He is to us and those around us.

Even the slightest light counts in this increasingly dark world. This is especially true when the light is in a high place! At higher altitudes, the light will be seen more clearly. On higher ground, that light will give hope to those around us to keep going. This light will also draw people in the darkness to Jesus. Never limit God with our limitations and let our light continue to shine during our ascent to a higher place than it may ultimately glorify our Father in Heaven!

The slightest light will make an impact in a dark place!

Reflection:

·What steps will you take to continue shining when you experience challenges in the process of getting to a higher place?

About this Plan

The Higher Place

Our life journey as believers can be likened to a climb. We walk towards higher ground where God wants to reveal Himself, increase our capacity, process us to be like Him, and finally enable us to fulfill His calling. Through these devotionals, we learn about the meaning of a higher place and see new things. May you have a happy climbing to the higher ground!
