Daily Bible Reading – May 2022 God’s Renewing Word of Promiseنموونە
May 16
Introduction
Saul is anointed as king, and Samuel tells him about things that will happen that day as proof that he has been chosen by the LORD. God gives Saul a new nature, and the spirit takes control of him. Saul chooses not to tell anyone in his family about becoming king.
Scripture Reading
1 Samuel 10:1-16
Today’s Key Verse:1 Samuel 10:1a
Samuel took a jar of olive oil and poured it on Saul's head, kissed him, and said, "The LORD anoints you as ruler of his people Israel. You will rule his people and protect them from all their enemies."
Reflect
When Saul is anointed as king, what does Samuel tell him? What happened when the spirit took control of Saul? How did people react when they saw Saul’s ecstatic dancing? In what ways have you experienced the spirit of God at work in your life?
Pray
Loving God, fill me with your Spirit. I yield to your control. Guide my thoughts and actions this day and lead me in the way of your truth. Amen.
And now, join us in praying for a program developed by the Bible Society of Mexico to help local church leaders disciple children and youth with biblical values. Lord God, gang activity, fights at schools, and transporting drugs across the border for a drug cartel comprise the reality for millions of children and youth in Mexico. We pray that the 9,000 plus leaders and Sunday school teachers from 3,000 churches being trained in a new Scripture engagement program, with the potential to impact 120,000 children, would be empowered to teach the Scriptures with enthusiasm and power, and that, as children and youth are taught your Word, they would be drawn to your love. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
1 Samuel 10:17-27: Saul is acclaimed as king.
