Passion Week: The Resurrection and the Lifeنموونە
The Arrival
When people looked for the Savior, they expected him to look like a warrior king on a noble horse with a sword. When Jesus arrived on earth, though, he came unexpectedly as a baby. When Jesus arrived in Jerusalem for the final week of His life here on earth, He rode into the city on a donkey, accessible by ordinary people like you and me.
The wonder and majesty of Jesus are not shown in His elite distant position or through a display of great power but that He was elite in his nature and powerful beyond measure. Still, He chose to put that aside and come close to humanity and lay down His life as a ransom for ours. Jesus is unexpected because we expect to get what we deserve, and because of sin, we deserve death. Jesus came so He could take what we deserved and give us something else: forgiveness, righteousness, and life.
