An Expectant Heart
Starting a new year brings with it a time of reflection. Most of us would say that recent times have turned out differently to what we expected. From mountain-top moments to valley tears, 2021 bought with it a mixed bag of experiences and emotions.
It is easy to be excited at a new year starting; there is a sense of anticipation that 2022 will be better! Many of us want to start fresh. But we all know that a new year does not bring any guarantees other than a new date to try to remember! While there is still much uncertainty in the air as we move into a new year, one thing we can be certain of is God. As the clock struck midnight, God was still God. His love for us is still deep and eternal. His grace is still endless. And He is still there, in every moment and every season. Because, while life changes, God does not change. His promises still stand. He’s still as powerful as He always has been. Our God is unchanging.
As Hebrews 13:8 tells us, He is the same yesterday, today and forever. The God who created the world is the same God who goes before us into the new year. The One who loved you to the point of death, who loves you now, will still love you just as much then.
Let us be expectant for God to do something new now. Setting our hearts on Jesus, trusting Him to restore, redeem, and renew our hope, let us walk into the new year confident He will do immeasurably more than we can possibly imagine or hope for.
