Hope Filled Tomorrow

DAY 3 OF 5

Take The Abundant Path

A burgeoning new year brings with it feelings of reflection and wonder as we think about what has been and what is to come. That routine of dreaming and planning has taken quite the beating in recent times, as dreams were brutally cast aside in the wake of constant change, border closures, and uncertainty. Knowing so acutely, now, the limitations of our control, how can we have hope about tomorrow, and come into the new year with expectation?

First, we address the anchor point of our hope. Has it been in our own abilities, our own motivation and our sheer will to drive hard at our goals? Or is it in God, whose capacity to carry us through life in line with His will is unaffected by world events?

Psalm 65:11 says that God crowns the year with His goodness. That is every year, not just the years where you can see a straight line between where you are now and where you want to be. There is no caveat that says His goodness is only apparent outside of pandemics and political panic.

The scripture also says His paths drip with abundance. When we do the journey with Him, even in a world gone mad, we can experience abundance by walking in step with Him. That abundance may be joy when others feel afraid, financial provision when job losses are rife – or peace when you have lost your job, because you know He will provide.

Whatever the coming year holds, it is crowned with His goodness, and He has made an abundant path for us through it. That’s a great source of hope.
