Moments for Mums: Refreshing - Part 2نموونە
Have you ever tried to sit in silence and simply be still? Even if you get your body to still for a few minutes, I’m guessing your mind isn’t! This is the cause for much of our tiredness.
I love that God knows us humans so well that he gave us this instruction. “Be still”. He knows that we need to stop the whirlwind of activity at times and pause.
It goes beyond that though. Stillness by itself only provides a partial refreshing, even when you practice it. Knowing God—who he is—brings the rest. It is no longer about what I can do alone, but who God is in my life. It becomes about what we can do in a deeply interconnected relationship.
Stillness may seem hard to come by with children around. But God says this in the context of wars between entire nations! And because it is an internal posture not an external one, stillness can come in many forms. You can “be still” and connect with God while hanging out the laundry, going for a walk, writing, painting, or feeding a baby. We get to choose to be still and know that he is God.
Question
What is one activity that you connect with being still and using it as a time to focus on who God is?
Prayer
Lord, I may be a whirlwind of activity and thoughts but I want to know you. Remind me to be still and connect with you today.
Scripture
About this Plan
Motherhood can feel relentless and have us running on empty at times. Add in the rest of life and it is easy to get to a place of feeling exhausted and soul weary. God meets us in those moments and offers refreshing for our souls. Encouragement for mums in the midst of the beautiful mess of parenting and life.
