Prophets, Visionaries and Dreamers

DAY 3 OF 5

Lets start prophesying

In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit was poured out from time to time on a few people who had been chosen as the voice of God to an entire nation.

All that changed with the cross of Calvary, where that which separated the imperfection of humanity from the perfection of our God was destroyed. Christ tore the veil and opened a way for us to confidently approach the throne of God to find grace and mercy.

In the New Testament, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is for all, and by mentioning young, old and children in Acts 2, God is communicating what He wants to do with all generations.

God wants us to prophesy, have dreams and visions.

In 1 Corinthians 14:1-5 we can read about the gifts of the Spirit and especially about prophecy. The passage tells us that the prophetic word strengthens, encourages and comforts. Prophecy pushes you forward, it does not limit you to where you are or set you back. It fills you with encouragement, expectation and hope. It does not condemn you, nor does it tell you that your best days are the ones you have left behind.

God's desire is for all of us to be able to prophesy.

You may say "I don't know how to prophesy", but today I want to encourage you and remind you that prophesying is speaking God's word to the future, it is declaring the truths of scripture.

It is important for us to remember that the Alpha and Omega dwells in us, the One who conquered sin and death, and established an eternal and immovable kingdom. Let us not forget that a glorious end awaits us and our king returns for us.

I encourage you to declare to your future what God says, not what the newspapers say.

God's word in your mouth can change the atmosphere of a place and produce encouragement in a person.

Psalm 119:103 says, "How sweet are your words to my taste! They are sweeter than honey."

Why don't you start prophesying God's word over your family, over your economy, your job and your friends lives?

The situation may not change, but you will change because your faith will be elevated and you will have a firm faith. God has given us the spiritual tools so that we can stand firm in the midst of trials.

Let's start prophesying!

Prayer: Father I thank you that you are waiting for me on the other side of every trial. I give you my dreams and my future, help me to look forward with hope and to prophesy your word in every aspect of my life. Help me not to miss the opportunity to encourage others and lift them up with my words. Amen.
