The Well-Rounded Business Leader

DAY 2 OF 4

The Well-Rounded Business Leader,  Part II

In this Bible reading plan, we’re exploring the differences between wisdom, knowledge, and understanding and how all three make a business leader well-rounded. Let’s begin with the attribute of understanding

In Hebrew, this word means perceptive insight with the ability to judge.

A consulting client once asked me and his other advisors to help him with an issue. One advisor recommended an immoral plan.

It was my time in God’s Word that enabled me to realize the perils of this choice and to gain an understanding of the situation, resulting in a better solution.

Job 28:28 teaches, "Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to depart from evil is understanding."

To gain understanding, we need to use our senses to listen and observe. But, the ability to judge appropriately comes from understanding God’s Word.

Questions for Reflection:

  • According to Job 28:28, what is the well-rounded business leader called to discern?
  • How can reading and being familiar with God’s Word help us gain understanding?
  • Think of one example of how knowing God’s Word has helped you gain understanding in the marketplace.
