The Miracle Called Israel

DAY 4 OF 7

Miraculous events

People have no problem seeing the miraculous hand of God throughout the Old Testament with unbelievable miracles such as…

The burning bush, which God used to call the attention of Moses.

The ten plagues, which God used to free Israel from captivity.

The parting of the Red Sea. When was the last time you stood at the edge of the ocean, and it parted right before you? Incidentally, Dr. David Kim, a Korean doctor and a firm Bible believer who was the personal doctor to a prince in Saudi Arabia, has published pictures and videos of the actual site where the Israelites crossed the Red Sea. It is impressive to see how God led His people to that exact spot where they could travel on foot. It is a miracle!

Another miracle was the pillar of fire at night and the pillar of cloud during the day that one million people could follow through the desert for 40 years.

God also parted the Jordan River when His people were on their way to their heritage.

When the walls of Jericho fell from the inside out, the Israelites knew it was a miracle. They probably felt silly while walking around the city, not knowing how God would deliver them from their enemies, but they still obeyed. After the seventh time they marched around the city, the walls started shaking! They probably looked at each other and then looked up, thinking, “Alright, we see you.”

The Lord stopped time for about a day. Joshua spoke, and “the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day.” (Joshua 10:13) A good tanning day for some people! The Lord fought for Israel. Think about it. These were the same people who saw the walls coming down. They probably thought, “Wow, now this one is just too much!” And the nations around them were probably thinking, “What is going on here?!” Do you think Joshua was surprised? I don’t believe so. He knew God was fighting with him.

Just like God used His miracles to call the attention of His people then, He still does it today. He calls us to a relationship with Him, but we still have the choice to believe. Will you come to your own ‘burning bush’ experience?
