Grasp the Moment by Rocky Fleming
DAY FOUR
Scripture:
“Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered – how fleeting my life is.” Psalm 39:4
Thought:
“Reality check”–“Make peace with reality”–“Be real”–“Get real”–“You are in La La land.” These are examples of phrases to bring us back from delusional thinking. Of course, there is the negative person who likes to say to the positive person that they are simply being realistic, as if to say the other person is delusional. (Do you hate this as much as I do?) I’m about as positive as any one can be but I must say to all of you: “Do a reality check. Life is fleeting; it is delicate, and it passes fast. How are you investing it?” My wife once said that when our children were in diapers the days dragged by so slowly, but then one day she looked up and discovered that life had passed by so fast. This is the truth that we read in the scripture above. Our life will pass before we know it. The guidance we see in this scripture is to be reminded that our days are numbered. There will be an end to our mortal bodies, a limited shelf life, and what we do with each minute of every day is either invested wisely or it is squandered never to be recaptured.
Application:
So, how are you doing with numbering your days? Are you counting each day as a blessing to reinvest as a steward for your King? Are you using each day wisely? Remember, as His child and to be His disciple you must embrace your life and world with a sacred responsibility to be His steward of the life He has given you. Our life may be going through a good or bad season, but we are to be His steward and embrace it either way.
As you interact with the truth of the scripture above, and then apply it to your life in answering my question to you, ask the Father to show you how to number your days. Ask Him to infuse into you a holy contentment to live each day to His glory, but as well a holy discontentment to not settle for anything less than His best plan for your life. Take a moment now to seek your answer from Him through prayer.
Q: What do you think the Holy Spirit said for you to do differently to number your days?
Q: What adjustments do you need to make to be where He is leading you?
Response:
Make a commitment now to follow through with any changes you need to make. Do not allow this to be left open. Do not tarry if you have been shown a different way for you may miss God’s blessing of a redirection that will lead you to the desires of your heart.

About this Plan
We all know our mission is to bring glory to God. But do we also understand that it is our mission as followers of Christ to “enjoy Him … forever?” When was the last time you simply enjoyed God? Let's interact with our King over the next few days and let Him teach us how to grasp the moment with Him.
