Distinctنموونە
What makes humans distinct from animals? Is it our thumbs? Lack of fur? Our ability to drive cars? Or maybe, is it something a little bit more important? Many people have tried to answer this question. Some have found that we are no different from the animals around us. Followers of Jesus believe the animals, the earth, the universe, and everything, including humans, are God's creations. But is there anything that makes us humans different, unique . . . distinct?
At the very beginning of the Bible, we get an answer to these questions. In Genesis, we see God makes humanity in the image of God, which is different from anything else God had made. In chapter two, we see God breathes life into humankind. God created all things — the earth, stars, oceans, fish, land animals — by speaking. But with humans, we were formed by God's words and God's breath of life. You see, there is something distinct about humans. God took extra care in creating us. Not only that, but gave us unique responsibilities in caring for the rest of creation.
How might you live differently knowing that you are distinct in God's eyes?

In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll explore who Jesus is and discover who we’re meant to be.
