Purpose And God’s Plan
Have you ever wondered, “What is God’s plan for me?” or “What is God calling me to do?”
Imagine you’re a coach for a team — football, cheerleading, soccer, dance, etc. And your team is headed to the championships.
As a coach, you make a game plan for your team — you set practices, run plays, go through routines, and challenge your team to work hard and do their best.
Just like a coach sets a game plan to bring the team to victory, God set a winning game plan for your life before you were born. God’s game plan for you is not for you to focus on tasks, titles, or what you do, but on who you are becoming in Jesus.
We do this by living a holy life — by using our breath (speaking kindly to others), talents (things we’re naturally good at), and gifts (such as singing, dancing, coloring, baking) to become more like Jesus!
You might be wondering how we do that. 2 Timothy 1:9 says God has called us to live a holy life, and He showed us His grace in helping us by sending Jesus. Jesus can help us partner with God to live the way He wants, and when we partner with God, we find our purpose, and miraculous things happen!
Ask yourself: In what ways are you becoming more like Jesus? What things can you do to be more like Him?
Challenge yourself: God’s plan is for us to live a holy life. Make a list of ways you are following God’s plan for your life. Share it with a parent, sibling, or friend.
Pray: God, thank You for giving me breath, talents, and gifts. Help me to find purpose in using them to point people to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
