eKidz Devotional: All About Purpose

DAY 3 OF 5

Our Purpose

Have you ever looked up at the sky at night and wondered, “Why do stars exist?” They are pretty to look at, but they don’t give much light, you can’t see them every night, and they are sooo far away.

Maybe there have been times when you felt like a star — you felt small, like you didn’t matter much. But did you know that stars have a GREAT purpose?

People have used stars for lots of reasons! They can help people tell time, are used to help ships travel the sea, and one of them gives us heat and light to see by every day (you can thank the sun for that). One star even helped the Wise Men find Jesus!

Just like stars have purpose, you do, too! God created us and has a purpose for us.

Ephesians 2:10 says God has called us to a holy life. That's our purpose — to live a holy life by speaking kindly and living well. By doing that, we reflect God and live out His purpose for us.

Ask yourself: How would you describe the word “purpose”? If God has a plan for us, how do we live it with purpose?

Challenge yourself: Read your Bible and speak well of others. Pray and ask God to help you find someone you can encourage with your words, and then do it. (e.g., a sibling, parent, a friend, etc.)

Pray: God, thank You for creating me. Thank You for loving everything about me. Help me to live a life of purpose and to share Your love with others. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Want to talk to your family about what it means to have purpose? One way to get started is by listening to the newest episodes of Adventures of the StarKeepers, released every week! You can find the StarKeepers wherever your family listens to podcasts!
