Giving
Today we will consider one of the most important and Godly subjects of the whole Bible: Giving. See how John 3:16 describes how much God loved the world…so much that He gave! Giving is a statement of love.
We live a generous life because we love God. Our first commitment is not to the need of people, our first commitment is to the One in whose image and likeness we were created: A generous God! We are generous in our very being.
Giving is a Godly virtue. Followers of Jesus enjoy giving what we have to others because the Jesus we follow, loved to give of everything that He had!
John 10:10 I came so that everyone would have life and have it in its fullest.
Giving will also bring wonderful joy to your life.
Acts 20:35 By everything I did, I showed how you should work to help everyone who is weak. Remember that our Lord Jesus said, “More blessings come from giving than from receiving.”
Giving releases more capacity over your life.
Luke 6:38 If you give to others, you will be given a full amount in return. It will be packed down, shaken together, and spilling over into your lap. The way you treat others is the way you will be treated.
Giving from a generous heart honors God!
2 Corinthians 9:7 Each of you must make up your own mind about how much to give. But don’t feel sorry that you must give and don’t feel that you are forced to give. God loves people who love to give.
Giving is the new normal for a follower of Jesus. It is an act of obedience and also an act of worship. It is how we declare every day that Jesus is Lord of our lives.
2 Corinthians 9:8-11 God can bless you with everything you need, and you will always have more than enough to do all kinds of good things for others.
The Scriptures say, “God freely gives his gifts to the poor, and always does right.” God gives seeds to farmers and provides everyone with food. He will increase what you have so that you can give even more to those in need. You will be blessed in every way, and you will be able to keep on being generous. Then many people will thank God when we deliver your gift.
About this Plan
In the person of Jesus, God calls all people not to simply know about Him, but to follow Him with all that we are. Following Jesus daily is more like a habit than it is a moment. Habits are things we do often and regularly, without consciously thinking we have to do them. This 40-day plan will explore life-giving habits to establish us in the new life that Jesus gives.
