The Holy Spirit dwells in me
I live in God’s presence
How do I know that the Holy Spirit lives in me?
One of the valuable aspects of our faith is to understand that you cannot be a Christian and not have the Holy Spirit. When we believed in Christ, He came to live in our spirit, the deepest part of our being. In other words, our salvation is sealed by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and is an important mark that distinguishes believers from non-believers. Understanding that as believers we have a new nature from which we are living. It was always the Father's heart that we would live in a close intimate relationship with Him. The fact that Jesus came and dwelled amongst us was the very sign that He wanted to have a close-knit relationship with us.
Romans 8:9 CSB You, however, are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to him.
This brings me to the place where we need to understand that we have become more than just people who attend church or fulfill certain religious duties. We have become the residence of Christ Jesus. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit will guide and lead us in this new nature that we now live in.
1 Corinthians 3:16 CSB Don’t you yourselves know that you are God’s temple and that the Spirit of God lives in you?
Do you sometimes ask the question: where is the Holy Spirit?
Just a few months ago I left one of our windows open without tightening and securing it when the wind started to blow the very same window was smashed into the frame and the window broke. I didn’t see the wind blowing but I only saw the results of the wind. You might not see the visible presence of the Holy Spirit now but over time you will experience His work in your life and the fruit that comes with it. Jesus made the statement in John 3:8; 'The wind blows where it pleases, and you hear its sound, but you don’t know where it comes from or where it is going. So, it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
By understanding this, Christ also wants to make His home in the rest of our inward being, our hearts, mind, and souls. By living in our spirit, Christ is the new source of our new life. The Holy Spirit is an eternal gift sent to live in us, and we are under His divine leadership and empowered to do whatever He requires of us.
Romans 8:11NLT The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
Prayer:
Take a moment to ask God to give you the ability to be more sensitive to the Holy Spirit in your life. Ask for the tangible presence of the Holy Spirit in your life.
About this Plan
In the person of Jesus, God calls all people not to simply know about Him, but to follow Him with all that we are. Following Jesus daily is more like a habit than it is a moment. Habits are things we do often and regularly, without consciously thinking we have to do them. This 40-day plan will explore life-giving habits to establish us in the new life that Jesus gives.
