Theme: Rescue
Crisis Converted Then:
In the desert region that Israel must cross to return home, rain is precious and is considered a blessing from God. However, Yahweh won’t merely bring rain from the heavens but righteousness. He is “making things right” through the Persian king Cyrus II. God’s rescue bears fruit on the earth for his people.
Crisis Converted Now:
We are dependent on rain. We can’t make it rain. We try to simulate rain with garden hoses, irrigation, etc. But at the end of the day, we look to the heavens to water our earth.
In the same way, we are dependent on rescue. We can’t rescue ourselves. We try to simulate our rescue with politics, wealth, etc. But at the end of the day, we look to the heavens to make our lives right.
Give praise today to God that he came from heaven to justify sinners through his Son.

About this Plan
This study from Isaiah 40-55 explores our identity as people affected by trauma but living in hope. In the exile, God’s nation had to find new life when their old life had been completely overturned and destroyed. Similarly, we now find ourselves trying to “return to normal” in the aftermath of a global pandemic. Yet, God can take any crisis and convert it for his glory and our growth.
