Who Is God?نموونە
"I am who I am"
When the people of Israel had been in Egypt for generations and their situation had become very hard and they called out to God in distress, God decides to rescue them. (Exodus 2:23-25) He calls Moses to lead them out of Egypt and into Canaan. But if the people are to obey him, it should be clear Who is commanding them to leave Egypt!
God presents Himself as "I am who I am". That is a description that reveals something essential about God: He exists absolutely, independent from anything. He is the ultimate source of existence. And He is unchangeable, He remains the same forever.
God does not just claim to be "the God of Israel" as if He is just one among many gods. He is the Creator of all humanity, and therefore the Lord of all the world. He claims authority both over the Israelites and the Egyptians – and over you as well.
Do you believe in God as "a God who is", not just a philosophical construct but a real existing, personal Being?
