The Power of the Spoken Blessingنموونە
Today we will be looking at the effect that the spoken blessing has upon children. Jewish families have kept this custom for centuries, and the results are profound. In most Jewish families, Friday nights are family nights. The parents and children share a Shabbat meal, and the father will end the evening off by praying the high priestly prayer and declaring a blessing over each of the children.
Over a son, the father declares that he will grow up to be very successful. He then proclaims the vocation that the boy would pursue, for example, a lawyer, doctor, or engineer – generally following the father’s profession. The father declares that his son will be successful in everything he sets his hands to and will never know any lack. The son is also constantly reminded that God has a special lady – who is being prepared just for him – as his future bride. This lady will love, adore, and support him, and they will have many children.
Over a daughter, the father declares that she is loved and treasured by him. He then declares that she will be successful and become a respected and adorned woman in society. Her husband is being prepared and handpicked by God, especially for her. Her womb will be fruitful, and her children will bless her.
This blessing is repeated every week. It never becomes dull. On the contrary, the children yearn for and look forward to this time. The evening is ended off with lots of hugs and kisses, ensuring a tight-knit family unit. When one discovers this blessing, it is clear why such children walk in identity and purpose.
Even if this type of spoken blessing seems foreign to most of us, it carries immense power, and we can choose to start implementing the principle of speaking life and destiny into our children and families. We have the choice to walk in the blessing of God and put an end to the curse.
The Lord states in Jeremiah 16:6 that we should take heed to the good, old way and walk in it. That does not mean that God’s ways are outdated or old-fashioned; on the contrary, His Word is always relevant and applicable, no matter what society deems to be popular at the time. God has set principles in place to ensure that when we as His children fully obey His Word, we will always have a means to prosper, despite what is happening in this world
Draw Closer in Prayer
Jesus, I am in awe of you. I glorify your Holy Name and love you with all my heart. Thank you for teaching me how my family and I can walk in the blessing. I want to return to the good, old way that you set in place to ensure that I can always overcome and prosper, no matter what is happening in the world around me. I am so thankful for an opportunity to do things differently, and to become the one who can bless my own children and speak their destiny into being. I ask that you show me the future of my children, that I can guide them towards their perfect calling. Thank you for your love and direction. It is an honor to serve you. Amen.

About this Plan
The spoken blessing refers to the fact that our words carry power. When someone speaks positive words (of blessing) over you – at your birthday party, for example – it is far more than mere well-wishes. The spoken blessing carries such immense power; it triggers a supernatural release of identity, purpose, and direction for abundant life
