Real Hope: Obedience

DAY 4 OF 5

Miracles In The Ordinary

YOU may be in the middle of a miracle right now and don’t even know it.

I believe God can do great things in our lives. But I also believe that God sometimes does His most powerful work in our everyday ordinary lives.

Jesus used 12 ordinary men to reveal God‘s plan of salvation to the world. The disciples were not well educated, rich, powerful or famous – but what they did have was ‘conviction’ – they were convinced that Jesus was who He said He was, and so they did what He asked them to do.

The Lord asks us to do ordinary things, like honour your father and mother. He asks us to love our neighbour, to obey those in authority, to pay our taxes – everyday ordinary things! But when we do them, the extraordinary happens. We are no longer ordinary people. We become living Bibles read by all men.

The light and love of Christ shines in and through us and God’s work is done, even without us knowing it! Simply because we just are doing what He tells us to do.

Jesus’ first miracle took place at a wedding in Cana where Mary said to those serving, ‘Whatever He says to you, do it’. Here Jesus turned water into wine, because of their obedience. I wonder just how many at that wedding were in the middle of a miracle, and didn’t even know it!

About this Plan

Real Hope: Obedience

So often the word ‘obedience’ doesn’t draw out positive meaning. However, that is just what the Bible tells us it is. In the Bible, obedience is meant to bring freedom and joy. At its essence it is a demonstration of a life lived with God. This plan is intended to challenge our worldly definition of obedience and align our hearts and understanding to the heavenly definition.
