DAY 2 OF 3

THE SONS OF COVENANT

Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. (Romans 8:17)

Not only is Abraham called the father of Israelites, but he is also called the father of the people of faith. This is not because he obeyed all of the law of Torah, but because of his whole trust in God.

In the same way, we are made righteous and receive salvation, not because of our efforts or our good deeds, but because of our belief and faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that Christ died to redeem our sins so that we receive grace and mercy from the Father.

The moment we believe in Jesus, we surrender everything in our life to Him and acknowledge Him as the Lord over our life. We are adopted to become the children of God.  Starting from the moment we become His children, we are led to be changed according to His image. This is a process which requires us to put to death our fleshly desires every day.

Because Jesus has surrendered His life for us, it is appropriate that we also surrender our life to become His. Christ is the descendant of Abraham and Christ is the fulfillment of God’s promise to Abraham.

Because of Abraham, the blessings of God’s promises have reached the nations. How thankful we are that we are called to be the sons of this covenant because of God’s love.

When we believe in Jesus Christ we surrender everything in our life to Him.
