Through the Bible: Genesis

DAY 9 OF 15

Blessing and Conflict

The little you had before I came has increased greatly, and the Lord has blessed you wherever I have been. But now, when may I do something for my own household?
Genesis 30:30 (NIV)

Throughout these chapters, we learn of Jacob’s challenges in his work and relationships that are filled with deception, idolatry, conflict and injustice. The chapters are filled with drama that may be entertaining to read but it was difficult to go through for Jacob. In the midst of all the drama and challenges, one would easily resort to our own strength and wit as we feel that God is absent. That’s what happened to Jacob, too. Yet we see how God was there for Jacob the whole time. Whenever he called on God, He responded immediately and guided him. After all the drama, we see how Jacob prospered and was blessed with a big family at the end. How do we respond to challenges we face now and have the perspective that we are currently in the tunnel and that only after going through it with His guidance we can get to the end and see His blessings?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, hold me tight and don’t let me go even if I complain when I do not see what’s coming. Impart me with Your vision not mine, and may we always and only rely on You. We pray all these in Jesus' mighty Name, Amen.

About this Plan

Through the Bible: Genesis

Everyone has an origin. It explains why we are here, and who we really are. But what about the origin of mankind? The answer lies in the book of Genesis, which means “in the beginning”. The book will help us understand the beginning of creation, the fall of mankind and unfolds God’s redemptive plan for humanity. Please join us as we journey Through The Bible starting with Genesis.
