Stand Out: Living for Christ in a Corrupt Worldنموونە
Anxious About the Things of the Lord
7:25-40: In verses 25-38, Apostle Paul advises the unmarried Christians not to marry. He gives several reasons for that. The Corinthian church was going through some crisis (v. 26). Also, he reminds them there will be troubles in this life (v. 28) and that the time for Christ’s return is short (v. 29). Further, he wanted them to be free from anxieties (v. 32). Then, in verses 39-40, he even advises widows not to remarry.
In our Indian culture, being single is seen as negative. Many people think that their lives can be complete only when they get married. But we must realize that God calls some people to remain single so that they can focus on Christ and his kingdom. Having said that, not all are gifted to be single.
But an unmarried believer is free from many anxieties. The single Christian does not have the responsibility of taking care of a spouse and children. That gives more time and energy to serve the Lord. So, being single is good if you are gifted for it. You can be anxious only about the things of the Lord.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for the Christians who remain single so that they focus on you and your kingdom.

About this Plan
The first epistle to the Corinthians covers several issues that are relevant to Christians today. By drawing lessons from 1 Corinthians 1-7, Dr. David Mende encourages us to live for Christ in a corrupt world.
